What is Cabochon Jewellery?posted on 9 March 2010 | posted in Jewellery News | (0) Comments
Cabochon is a term referring to a gemstone or natural stone that has been shaped and polished instead of being facetted (small cuts that provide sparkle to transparent stones). Cabochon stones generally have flat bottoms and have a raised or bulging top.At Goldstone Silver, we tend to use the cabochon natural stones in rings and pendants set in silver. We purchase the stones in Armenia, mainly agates, jaspers, amethysts, charoite and petrified wood. It is important to choose good quality stones, and to have already in mind the type of setting you will apply, whether you will use it for rings or pendants. We aim to use the least possible amount of silver around the stone to let the beauty of the gemstone speak for itself.
