Diamond - April Birthstone

You may have a relative, friend or partner whose birthday is coming up next month and you are asking the question: "what is the birthstone for April"?

The title gave it away, diamond is the answer! Much has been written about diamonds, and they are by many, considered as the "ultimate" gemstone to have.

Diamonds are very popular due to the range of colors, high refraction, durability and hardness. In fact, diamonds are four times harder than rubies and sapphires, the next hardest natural minerals.

Diamonds are also very popular because of their rarity which makes them exclusive and desirable. In our Gold Indulgence Collection, we feature gold rings and pendants with diamonds solely, and in combination with sapphires and rubies which we believe go well together. Diamonds are generally set on gold.

What may be more rare is the black diamond which has seen a rise in popularity in recent years. Black diamonds and white diamonds provide a good combination in jewellery, don't you agree? The black diamond has until now not been as popular as white or transparent diamonds, however they are extremely beautiful and the contrast between those two colours is very popular, not only in jewellery.

Diamonds are so hard that nothing can scratch them except other diamonds. However, a diamond can scratch other stones, including sapphires and rubies. Their hardness also provides durability, which is why often engagement rings are made of diamonds, as they are rings worn every day, hopefully many years.
